At normal temperature, Epoxidized soybean oil (ESBO) is a light yellow thick oily liquid. It solidifies when the temperature is under 5°C. It is soluble in hydrocarbons, ketones, esters, and higher alcohols, and slightly soluble in ethanol. It is the most widely-used epoxide plasticizer and PVC stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride.
